I’ve predominantly worked at organizations that have operated with very lean marketing budgets. I have relied heavily on organic traffic to generate inbound leads. This requires an acute awareness of content and technical SEO tactics and focus on user experience, site performance and speed.

This brings me to the mothership – Smartbridge.com.

Every year the site undergoes either a redesign or a makeover. Let’s fast forward to 2018, when the magic really hits a high.

2018 | Migrating to a Multisite Network

A WordPress Multisite Network was the answer to giving each of our seven service lines the search engine attention they deserved.

CHALLENGES THAT LED TO THIS DECISION:

  • Company offered 7 consulting service lines that feature different technology solutions
  • Multiple areas of topic on the same domain was causing cannibalization
  • Since the previous redesign, I acquired many advanced SEO content and technical SEO skills needed to keep pace in organic growth
  • The network needed to accommodate future go to market strategies with ease
  • A growing sales tech stack needed to be integrated
  • The reliance on contact forms needed to be reduced to accommodate the changing customer journey
  • Support for ABM (tracking target account traffic)

THE RESULTS

The number of organic keywords where Smartbridge.com appears as the Top 3 have, on average, been around 40-60 in 2018. In 2019, immediately after the migration, we showed up in the Top 3 for 60-80 keywords. In total, Smartbridge.com shows up on SERPs for over 4,000 keywords. Several of the new microsites put us on the map for the first time ever with critical long-tail keywords.

2020-2022 | Sales Tech Integrations

Process automation for demand generation requires everything that happens on the website to not stay on the website! Engagement and activity gives us direction – we make business development decisions based on what’s happening on the website, so having it ready to go in Salesforce is paramount.

Regarding user experience – it’s important to me that we reflect a modern, innovative experience with the resources we have. We “eat our our own dog food”, so to speak. If we aren’t doing it, why would we encourage our clients to do so?

2018-2023 | Performance Measurement

Our SEO strategies are paying off, and it’s amazing how fast we can show up on the 1st page of search results sometimes. The highly competitive marketplace we live in (Salesforce, Microsoft, etc) often prices us out of paid traffic efforts, so organic is the answer.

But jsut not any traffic will do. We need to attract decision-makers at enterprise organizations. We need them to visit the right pages, stay on the site, and convert (book a meeting). Spending energy on observing visitor behavior is key to generating the hundreds of MQLs and SQLs were are expected to deliver.
